Erica found us searching for her dream dress on Still White. Our sample was for sale, and she was destined to find it in her budget. After chatting, we realized she was actually “local” as far as online sales go, just down at OU getting her Masters. We figured, why not get the dress and the whole Gilded Social experience, too!
We timed her alterations for before graduation - earlier than our average bride. Her wedding was the upcoming fall in California, and she’d be moving in between. It just made sense to check this off her list. But she had a mishap. She got a makeup stain on the dress when trying it over the summer! She tried to get it out with a SHOUT wipe, and well, you know how we feel about SHOUT wipes.
She reached out in a panic. The stain was right in front. We talked through options - replacing the panel, shipping back to us, OR taking it to a local cleaner. Sometimes even dry cleaners make it worse, so we discussed how to find a good one since she wanted to try that first. We also discussed who all she was going to let in on her secret and decided that maybe Mary Ellen and I could be support enough so the panic didn’t spread.
Sure enough, the first dry cleaner wasn’t exactly honest about their capabilities and was no help. We discussed more options, including a second cleaner who warned that their solution could make the dress shrink! But they were confident it would work. She decided that swapping to lower heels was worth it if the stain was gone. OMG. The RISK! And by now, we were only weeks from the wedding.
I always say, if you are having a dress issue - the first call you should make should be to ME! I’m your gal. The truth is, I promise I care more about your dress than you do. When you say YES with us, you’re getting way more than just a bridal gown. I never consider my job finished until you walk down that aisle!
I will never forget her text after she had gotten her dress back from the second cleaners. The stain was gone! I’m honored she thought to call me first to help her get through it, even from afar. When I finally saw those photos, there was literally nothing sweeter. She, and her dress, looked absolutely beautiful.
