The Story

Katie found us by winning a Scout Guide Columbus giveaway, which in and of itself was magic. What a treat it must have been when she looked us up that our collection was just what she was looking for!

After a little research, she started pining over a brand new Anne Barge dress that wasn’t even in stores yet. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get it in for her appointment, but I had something close, so it was still worth booking. Magic happened again. I got Antonella in on loan after all, she tried it on, and it was FIRST DRESS MAGIC as we knew it would be.

We ordered with a custom bodice measurement so that the proportions would remain the same even through alterations. I was still a bit new in bridal, and though I knew this was what Katie needed, I didn’t get the measurement quite right per the designer’s specs. We met halfway so I could get that measurement a second time. Every time I take a custom bodice measurement, I think of that moment with Katie in a Nordstrom dressing room making sure that we get it just right. God bless Katie’s graciousness through the process! If you are one of our many, many brides who has since gotten this same customization, you can thank Katie for teaching me how to do this just right!

Also, that other dress I had on standby had a tiny little neckline detail that was tugging at Katie. Easy! Mary Ellen added that extra little something in alterations, so Katie got exactly what she wanted.

Finding Katie’s dress was so magical that we did it for her mom, Becky, too! Mary Ellen combined two of our social dresses into one in order to create these gorgeous flutter sleeves for Becky. See, the possibilities are endless - you just have to dream it, say it, and have a little faith that we will do it!

The icing on the cake was getting to spend wedding day morning with Katie and Becky when I visited her home to steam her dress. Then, I picked it up for gown preservation, and she officially became an ULTIMATE Gilded Bride.

Staying in touch with Katie, even long after her big day, is always what makes me smile the most though. She helped me learn so much about what we could do to make the Gilded Social experience different than the rest, and for that, she will forever be a part of our GS HOF.

The Review

“From beginning to end, my experience working with Tanya and Gilded Social was wonderful. I found the shop through The Scout Guide and when it came time to start wedding dress shopping, they were my first call. Upon looking at their website, I found exactly what I was hoping to try on.

My initial call with Tanya made me feel so taken care of and excited for my actual appointment. She listened and gave great feedback. There was one dress that she didn't have in store, but worked her magic and got it there for me to try on at my appointment. It was the first dress I tried on and it was perfection - the one for me! Months later, I went back with my mom and Tanya was able to help her find a great dress.

Working with Mary Ellen on alterations was so easy! She listened to any questions I asked or concerns that I had and made changes to ensure that the fit was perfect. I felt SO GOOD on my wedding day and I owe a lot of that to Tanya and her team at Gilded. Thank you, thank you!”
